「メタン濃度、上昇に転じる＝昭和基地で07年－南極越冬隊」

3月に帰国した第48次南極観測隊・越冬隊の宮岡宏隊長（国立極地研究所准教授）が14日、文部科学省で記者会見し、昭和基地で観測を続けている温室効果ガスのメタンの濃度が2007年に上昇に転じたと発表した。
同基地のメタン濃度や世界気象機関（WMO）が集計する世界平均濃度は、2000年ごろから06年までほぼ横ばいだった。宮岡隊長は「原因を解明するとともに、今後を注意深く監視する必要がある」と話している。
昭和基地で観測している二酸化炭素（CO2）濃度は、世界平均濃度と同様に右肩上がりで上昇し続けており、07年に380ppmを超えた。
